The Chicago Wilderness Biodiversity Recovery Plan presents the conservation and restoration recommendations that have been approved by the Chicago Wilderness consortium. In order to build on the plan, consortium members have developed additional model policy papers. The papers cover two important topics — the conservation of wooded lands in the Chicago region and the use of controlled burns for land management. A third paper on sustainable development principles for the Chicago region is also under development.

Each paper describes the issue, summarizes key ecological data and land management practices, and presents general policy recommendations. The goal is to inform policy-makers and the public, and to provide a basis for discussion and consensus building.
